The month of August is rapidly approaching the half way point.

You’re looking for safer investments that produce above average rates of return, are safe and have a collateral backing.

You got your US Government Bonds with yields a little over nothing.  They’re backed by the full faith and strength of the US Government.  That’s the same government that has a thirteen trillion dollar debt to service.

Your banker and investment adviser has CDs, Money Markets and Money Market Mutual Funds paying a rate somewhat less than the US Government and you pay a very nice commission on the purchase.  Before you invest here make sure they don’t have any TARP money they’re making payments, or defaulting on.

You got to do your due diligence but tax foreclosures should be considered as a component of your investment portfolio and self-directed IRA.  Get educated and check them out.
